How To :- SpeedoHealer Fitment

Why would you want to fit a speedohealer??
Well when you want to change your gearing and you have a bike that takes its speed reading from the output shaft of the transmission, where the front drive sprocket fits onto it. Then even tho the output shaft will be turning at the same rate, anything after that ie the rear wheel will be going a different speed than the stock factory setup would of been going at that RPM of the output shaft so the clocks can’t see these changes to the gearing after the output shaft and so you get a discrepancy between your speedo reading and your actual speed and this is where a speedohealer helps out, as it sits between the speedo pickup and the clocks and you program it using a code that is determined by the difference between the speedo reading and the actual speed and then it adjusts the signal to compensate your gearing changes.

This guide will cover fitting a speedohealer mainly and a quick insight to how to program it, i’m fitting the healer to a GSXR 600 ’97, The fitting principle is the same for all bikes, it’s just a case of finding the connector for the speedo pickup sensor on your bike as each manufacture of bike will have a different style connector.

What you will need:
Speedohealer with the correct loom connector for your bike
Tools for removing your fairing
Cable ties

First off start but removing the pillion seat and the rider seat

Then you want to remove the LHS fairing to gain access to the connector for the speedo pickup

Locate the speedo pickup and the work out where you want to house your speedohealer, for me i wanted to house it under the pillion seat for easy access. Now you want route the speedohealer loom from the speedo pickup sensor to where it is to be housed

As you see i didn’t bother lifting the tank and i could just about feed it up long where the main loom runs

Go ahead and now disconnect the pickup connector and then plug the too ends onto the corresponding connector on the speedohealer loom

When you done connecting it, if like me you got your speedohealer healer 2nd hand, then it still might be programmed for someone else’s gearing changes so you want to clear the settings. To do this turn on the ignition and press and hold select and set at the same time until a E is shown, this means the bank is empty and also means your healer is working.
Image

Once done you can go ahead and cable tie the speedohealer loom secure and then put your bike back together.

I put some tape on my connectors to keep them clean

To work out the coding to programme the speedohealer for you gearing you will need to use something like a gps speedo app for your mobile. You then will need to go for a ride and hold your bike at a steady speed like 60mph for example as you need this set reading to help work out the coding to programme the speedohealer. You will also need to use something like a gps speedo app for your mobile. You then will need to go for a ride and hold your bike at a steady speed like 60mph on your speedo and then take a look to see what the gps speedo is saying. Then you want to head over to http://www.healtech-electronics.com/ and use the online calculate to get the code needed to set the speedohealer.

***** the kit normally comes with another wire that is to the top speed recall button but my 2nd hand one didn't come with it so wasn't fitted
